Knowledge Translation Statement
Audience: Nursing managers and hospital administrators
Psychiatric patients frequently experience rights violations including restricted autonomy, locked wards resembling imprisonment, privacy breaches, and neglect, yet Iran lacks comprehensive mental health legislation to protect these vulnerable individuals. Nursing managers should implement rights-based training in undergraduate and continuing education programs, advocate for open-door policies and structured family engagement models, and integrate patient autonomy support into daily care protocols, shifting from custodial to recovery-oriented, dignity-preserving care.
